Over Eating and Acid Reflux

Does Over Eating Cause Acid Reflux?
What a question. I love food. I actually get stressed out and find myself nervously eating at times. Sometimes I don’t eat a healthy breakfast and do not have time to prepare a nutritious lunch but, I guarantee you that I never miss eating dinner. In this scenario, I tend to overeat dinner to overcompensate for my lack of nourishment throughout the day. The acid reflux and heartburn can be excruciating. Some days I actually have a pre-dinner dinner. My wife is a great cook but I find myself starving before she gets home, so I usually grab something to eat to calm the storm within. When she comes home she usually

makes something tasty that I cannot refuse to eat. I had one specialist explain it to me this way. You can take all the precautions you want to stop acid reflux and heartburn but if you overfill your stomach it’s not going to help your situation. Most of us, especially me, are carrying a few extra pounds. This is like squeezing our stomach and causing it to overflow. Either way you look at it, nothing beats good exercise and eating in moderation. I am working on changing my bad habits of overeating and not eating my secret pre-dinner. On those days I relax on my goals, I am sure to grab some T-Drops to help my stomach feel back to normal.

Tips:         1. Use a smaller plate.

                2. Give yourself 10 minutes before going back for seconds.

                3. Take larger portions of healthier choices.

  1. I know this article is a little old, though Ive been told by Chinese medicine specialists, that when you overstuff your stomach, your body creates excess acids to try and digest the food. Thus you get that acidic stomach feeling. Anyway just my two cents on the issue.
